Workhouse Rock
The Harmsen Group's Bristol based team works from a beautiful old listed building that used to be a workhouse - though the ethos is somewhat different now. This clever conversion (winner of the British Council for Offices Award 2005) marries solid Victorian construction with a soaring contemporary interior, resulting in a workspace of superbly realised design and practical workability (you can see it for yourself in the Case Studies section).
Sustainability
- Our care for the environment is embraced by all members of the Harmsen Team and reflected in where we work, how we work and, most important, our clients' workspaces.
- Interiors is a specialism. Sustainable interiors is even more specialist and constantly evolving. Working closely with clients such as the Environment Agency has honed our ability to design sustainable inspiring environments. Whether a new- build project when we typically follow on from architects, or a refurbishment when we revive existing workplaces, our constant is an ethical and responsible approach to our clients and the environment.
- Our Green Champion, Zoe Trevett monitors our environmental performance, making sure that the way we work and how we design our clients' workplaces is in line with our sustainability protocols and environmental standards. She also communicates the policy to the team and keeps them up to date on new developments.
Techniques
We use tried and tested strategies to enable employees to excel, increase productivity, and achieve success for the business. The psychologies of managing, working, interacting and communicating are analysed to create intelligently designed spaces that benefit all. A more organic approach, you could say. But without the slugs.
