Walking for £100 per km!

With all the thorough preparation that you would expect, I am going to do a 25km sponsored walk on the 1st October, which leaves very little time for me to train, but more importantly, precious little time for us to raise £100 per km(!), a target that was set with optimism. In the cold light of day though, I reckon it can be achieved because marvellous people like you are so very generous.
So let’s cut to the chase: to raise £100 per km, sponsors need to think about a minimum sponsorship of 50p per km.
So, if the full 25km is covered (and that is quite a big “if”), your donation could be as follows:
50p per km will donate £12.50 (two bottles of plonk)
£1 per km will donate £25 (half a small tank of petrol)
£1.50 per km will donate £37.50 (an Indian takeaway for two where you knew you had ordered too much but you couldn’t help yourself)
£2 per km will donate £50 (an evening at the local pub-that-also-does-some-quite-good-food)
£4 per km – well, you get my drift.
The walk is part of the “Walk All Over Poverty” event being run by Care International. Their particular focus at the moment is the East African food crisis. You will have seen some upsetting news items recently and the famine is being most harshly felt in Somalia and Ethiopia. Here’s an extract from their website... East Africa food crisis CARE is currently assisting people affected by the drought in East Africa. We are distributing food, safe water, animal feed and providing health and sanitation services. CARE is also working with communities to make people less vulnerable to drought. Projects include helping farmers to learn about drought resistant crops and providing loans to help people expand their businesses or find alternative livelihood sources. This is the most severe food crisis in the world today, affecting more than twelve million people. We need your support.
