Workplace Consultancy

Your company may have arrived at a point where larger premises seem necessary. Or it may be that you need to restructure, downsize, take on more staff, or you’ve come to the end of your lease and need to move. Well, The Harmsen Group can help.

Workplace consultancy allows for imaginative rethinking of the way people work, how they use the space around them, and how these can be improved and optimised within the office environment. The tools we use to inform the design process are Occupancy Studies and Work Activity Questionnaires.

Occupancy Study (OS)

An Occupancy Study tells us how many people are in the office at any given time, and how they use the space around them (average desk occupancy is about 40% believe it or not). So we count them. Four times a day, for a month. We’re nothing if not thorough.

Work Activity Questionnaire (WAQ)

A Work Activity Questionnaire (yes, we call it a WAQ) is just one of the unique tools we use to introduce people to a new way of working. A WAQ is an intranet based questionnaire that discovers how your organisation works at the moment, how you’d like it to be, and how you can get there in the least painful way.

Results

The output from the OS and WAQ is anchored in the design brief and can lead to increased capacity, reduced cost per head, improved communication and a more humane business culture.
